Inspired by the rugged beauty of the landscape, this home embraces its natural surroundings, drawing from the tranquility of the mountains and the dense woodland. The design captures the essence of a peaceful retreat, where natural materials like wood and steel reflect the raw, unspoiled environment. The sculptural roofline and open spaces are designed to frame the seasonal changes, inviting sunlight in the winter and fostering a deep connection to nature year-round.

Two-bedroom wings offer ideal privacy for guests and grandparents alike. A welcoming courtyard house with a central communal great room.

Cozy up by the fireplace or take in the craftsmanship of the custom open stairway Natural wood siding & exposed steel structure add a contemporary edge to rustic beauty.

A striking sculptural roof form opens up to maximize winter sunlight, making it a year-round haven.

The architectural design embraces the site’s constraints, innovatively maximizing the impervious area and the building envelope while adhering to setback regulations and preserving the natural landscape.

The layout ensures compliance with zoning rules while the thoughtful placement of the home minimizes environmental impact, preserving mature trees and natural topography. Efficient site grading and driveway access reduce hardscaping and help meet stormwater management and environmental conservation standards, ensuring a seamless permitting process.

Build

With the budget in a comfortable position during construction, the homeowners elected to implement enhancements.  

They chose to upgrade to a flush finish on the base and door jambs, enhancing the design with a contemporary take on the classic prairie style of Frank Lloyd Wright.
